MIDWAY

A Photo & Poetry Zine

Midway is my photo and poetry zine, born from my journey riding the Amtrak train from Minneapolis to Chicago.I made a rule for myself: to only capture images while the train was in motion, weaving a narrative through the passing landscapes. But it's more than just a physical journey; it's a narrative journey of rediscovering myself amidst the ordinary moments of life. I wanted Midway to be a tribute to a way of life slipping away, a snapshot of the quiet beauty of the Midwest that we're losing. I aimed to create a surreal atmosphere, almost dreamlike, despite the fact that you may have never set foot in those places. My goal was for Midway to evoke nostalgia and a sense of longing, resonating with anyone who feels the pull of quiet reflection amidst the chaos.

In Midway, I wanted to capture the pulse of humanity found midway between city to city, amidst the hustle and bustle. It's about finding oneself in the quiet moments, amidst the mundanity and glory of the lost Midwest. Through imagery and poetry, I sought to encapsulate the essence of being "midway" in life, between the rush of the present and the nostalgia of the past.
